Thursday, 8 May 2008 - Canon Australia has unveiled a new brand name, imageFORMULA, for its range of digital scanners underscoring the company's commitment to developing its business scanner offering. This coincides with the launch of two new network scanners, the DR-2010C and the DR-2510C, which offer significant financial, time and storage benefits.

Advanced scanning features
The imageFORMULA DR-2010C scanner is designed to save small and medium-sized office department's time, money and storage space and complements Canon's existing line of cutting-edge business scanners. The versatile DR-2010C replaces the discontinued DR-2050C scanner and comprises of Canon's unique document feeding technology, which enables users to scan colour images at the same speed as black and white documents, and save directly into PDF format. The improved document feeding system holds up to 50 pages for bulk scanning and can suit a range of documents, from thick and multi-sheet documents to embossed plastic cards and driver licences. The DR-2010C scanner also comes with Capture Perfect 3.0, a multipurpose bundled software package, as well as Adobe Acrobat 8.0 Standard, digital file management solution PaperPort SE, and Biz Card Reader 5 SE for easy filing of scanned documents and business card management.

Advanced editing and security software
Canon's bundled scanning application, CapturePerfect 3.0, is designed to maximise scanning performance as well as streamline tasks for viewing, presenting, sending, saving and printing office documents. The imaging software - which is ISIS compliant - automates the image capture process and produces consistent, high-quality scans from even the most difficult original documents.

CapturePerfect 3.0 offers advanced PDF security settings and text editing functions that enable users to:

  • Create searchable PDFs with embedded OCR;

    The DR-2510C scanner also boasts the same speed for colour as black-and-white scanning, at a rate of 25 pages per minute. Users save time with customisable "Scan-To-Job" buttons that can be programmed to assign routine scanning tasks for one-touch operation such as Scan-To-Email and Scan-To-Print, and with efficiency-boosting image processing functions Automatic Page Size Detection, Skip Blank Page, Deskew and Text Orientation Recognition. Additional features include ultrasonic sensors designed to detect and prevent overlapping pages from being fed into the scanner at the same time, and Automatic Colour Detection for easy scanning of mixed batches.
